Pine Lake Retreat
Description
Pine Lake Retreat is a secluded 80 acre getaway located just south of Gerty, OK, 1 mile west of rural Highway 75, 100 miles from OKC and Tulsa and 150 miles from Dallas. You enter the property on its southwest corner from a quiet dead end road. From there, you drive along the southern boundary of the property through a lane of pine trees planted by the current owner. Approximately 360 feet in, you will see a "RV" sign that points to a private RV spot complete with sewer, water and electric hookups. A quick look around and you will notice a "pond" sign pointing down a nicely maintained path that leads to a perfect little pond with tea colored water full of largemouth bass patrolling the shoreline.
Once back out on the driveway, you continue east until you reach the cabin. It comes complete with a bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom, living area and upstairs loft. In addition, there is a nice wrap around porch that gives you plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the view. Cabin utilities include electric service, septic tank and lateral lines and a cistern to capture roof water for non-potable use. A water well has been drilled on the property but would need to be tested and have electric run to it plus a water line trenched back to the cabin. Alternatively, a new well could be drilled near the cabin. The owner started a large shed behind the cabin that could be completed to create a man cave, storage shed or bunk room. Just in front of the cabin is a skeet shooting station and a path that leads down to the main pond. Measurement of the pond size based on available aerial maps indicates that it is 3.5 acres when full. However, there is a washout in the dam that needs to be repaired to return water levels to their maximum levels. This could be done in one day of excavator work. A 75-foot elevated walkway extends from the shore of the pond all the way out to a nice fishing deck complete with a bench to enjoy while you fish. We have already been enjoying the fishing from the dock and think that this pond has great potential as a fishery. A half-acre pond lies on the western border of the property near a small equipment shed.
In between, most of the property is open and has been baled for hay in the past. It was not baled last year and will either need to be mowed again or it could be allowed to grow to create more bedding areas for whitetails. The deer hunting aspect of the property is easy to underestimate because most of it is open pasture. However, the owner has planted stands of pine trees to break up sight lines and provide additional cover. There are box blinds located around the property giving clues to where the deer pass through.
